It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard O. Bates Sr. of Hornell, New York, who passed away on October 8, 2020, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Bates and Mildred Bates (Huber); and his sister Wanda Stinkelle. He is survived by: his wife Pat Bates of Hornell; his children, Kathy Stenziano (Gabe) of Wayland and Richard Jr. Bates (Kathy) of Hornell; his grandchildren, Jake Stenziano (Whitney), Danny Stenziano of Rochester, Gabe Stenziano of Wayland, Kristi Smith (Branden) and Kimmie O'Connell (Matt) of Southport; his great grandchildren, Emma, Chase, Jack, Harper, Bella and Paisley; and his siblings, Delores Taylor of Boston, Bonnie Johnson of Rochester, Joanne Mayeu of Rochester, Vera Avery of Hornell, Rosemarie Zeh of Cohocton, Howard Bates (Linda) of Arkport, Harold Bates of Hornell, Vaughn Bates (Joan) of Hornell, Monroe Bates of Hornell, Shelby Cunningham (Chuck), Carol Taft (Ken) and Pen Dyring (Karen). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
