He was predeceased by: his parents, Isaac and Mildred Stephens Puffer; his siblings, Edith Puffer, Gerald P and Robert Puffer; and his granddaughter Audrey Zuchowski.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Smith Puffer; his children, Mary Schoonover (Curtis), Dianna Ollis (Darren), Pamela Zuchowski (Jeffrey), John Puffer (Kim), Alan Puffer (Susan), Scot Puffer (Denise) and Chris Puffer (Margaret); and his brothers, Monroe Puffer (Joanne) of Hornell and Jim Puffer (Lois) of Corning. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
