She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Clifford Purdy and Clara Purdy (Sanders); her husband William E. "Billy" Schu; her sister Shirley Galens; her sister-in-law Patty Pullman; her children, Deborah Munn (Christopher) of Canastota, NY, William Schu (Debbie) of LaFayette, NY, Brian Schu (Pam) of Hornell and Jeanine Smith (Jim) of Rush, NY; her siblings, Marian McAllister (Robert) and Vernon Purdy; her sister-in-law Anita Young; her grandchildren, Christine, Doug, Rebekah, Bill, James, Jake, Ian and Sadie; and her great grandchildren, Adeline, Christopher, Sawyer and Mason.
Irene's family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name be made to the Hornell United Presbyterian Church or donate a book in her memory to the Hornell Public Library.
