He was predeceased by: his parents, David Barney and Gertrude Barney (Orton); his former wife Patricia Barney (Hanks); and his sisters, Mary Barney, Lois Farnsworth and Phyllis Minnich.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Barney (Patricia) of Scio and Debra McElhenny (Kevin Johnson) of Hornell; his grandsons, Ryan McElhenny (Stephanie) of Purceville Va and Christopher McElhenny of Herdon Va; his former wife Sandy Wells; and his sisters, Donna DeSanto and Linda Dick (Joseph).
