He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Mess and Lucille Mess (Robinson); his brother William Mess; his half-sisters, Virginia Weaver and Marilyn Speciale; and his nephew William Mess.
He is survived by: his sister Joyce Woodworth of Hornell; his sister-in-law Jane Mess of Hornell; and his nieces and nephews, Jane Trescott of Hornell, Daniel Woodworth (Yvonne) of Hornell, Randall Woodworth (Raissa) of Hornell, Jason Mess (Stacy) of Hornell and Rebecca Curran (Colin) of Hornell.
