It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bernice Lucas of Hornell, New York, born in Johnson City, New York, who passed away on December 27, 2022, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Hurchla and Mary Hurchla (Maio); her husband Robert "Rob" Lucas; her daughter Rebecca "Becky" Lucas; and her brothers, Joseph (Hurchla) and Anthony "Tony" Hurchla.

She is survived by: her sons, Robert Lucas (Linda) and Joseph Lucas (Andrea) of Andrew; her sisters, Liz Finch of Binghamton, NY and Elsie Thompson of Lilburn, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Jared and Mackenzie Lucas.

Bernie's family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in her name to either CareFirst Hospice, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY 14870 (carefirstny.org) or to.
