He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Gruden and Helen Gruden (Tiefinbach); and his brother Peter F. Gruden. He is survived by: his wife Gloria Gruden (Benjamin); his children, Robert (Toni Anne Gruden), Michael (Carol Gruden), Jennifer Gruden (Keith Capolino) and Megan (Harry Bagheri); his grandchildren, Kenneth Capolino of Manassas, VA, Kristen, Daniel Agar of Shokan, Emma Gruden (Brian Garvilla) of Pine Bush, Robert Gruden, Bella Gruden, Julian Bagheri and Cian Bagheri; and his great grandchild Angelo Capolino. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a GoFundMe account is being set up to benefit the charitable organization Peoples Place in Kingston, NY.
