She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Norma B. Dalton and Leo J. Dalton; her siblings, Mark Dalton (Joyce Rambo) of Albany, Anne Dalton (Heinz Insu Fenkl) and John Dalton of Wappingers Falls; her nieces, Anya Aliferis and Isabella Dalton-Fenkl of Poughkeepsie; her extended family Dr. Joseph Bellino (late Clarice); her aunt Kathryn Ann Graham; her uncle Donald Graham; her cousins, Amy and Melanie Graham; her uncle Richard Bellino; and also, Christopher, Michael, Claudia and Carol. She was also cherished by aunts, uncles and cousins.

For a year at the start of the Co-Vid 19 pandemic, Joan cared for her ailing mother, Norma, managing to navigate the line between daughter and nurse.
