He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Kartar Singh and Jasmail Kaur; his wife Jaswant Kaur; his children, Amarjit Kaur, Harjit Dhaliwal, Pargat Dhaliwal, Manjinder Gerwal and Inderjit Singh Dhaliwal; and his siblings, Dr. Kuldeep Dhaliwal and Parmjit K Deol. He was also cherished by ten grandchildren.

He was a member of the Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji Foundation in Norwalk, CT.
