He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard and Elizabeth (MacDonald); his siblings, Howard "Mickey", Mary "Buddi" (Sherman), Robert and Shirley (Cotiaux); and his significant other Edna Sally "Billie" Twomey.

He is survived by: his sister Barbara Lambert (William); his children, Julie Steller (Mary Jane), John Steller (Anne Marie Ireland), Joseph Steller (Lynn), James Steller (Mary Ann) and J. William Steller (Rebecca); his grandchildren, Sarah Bushey (Andrew), Shannon DeLuca (Nick), Kaitlyn Cunningham (James), Jimmy Steller (Brittany), Emily Steller (Dylan), Jessica Steller, Jennifer Steller, John Steller and Peter Steller; his great grandchildren, Allison, Autumn Bushey, Cole, Sadie DeLuca, Liam, Jay Steller and Hank Cunningham; and his niece Nancy VanDerKar (Jack). He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
