He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Harter and Edith Seager Harter; his sister Debbie Breidinger; his nieces, Cathy Burns and Sarah Helms; and his nephew Jeffrey Stout.

He is survived by: his girlfriend Linda Diliello; his daughter Rebecca Harter of McGraw; his siblings, Sherri Burns, Michael Harter of Homer and Connie Vinnedge of Preble; and his brother-in-law Richard Breidinger.
