He was predeceased by: his parents, John Matson and Gertrude Burk Matson. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Grinnell Matson; and his sisters, Ann Mohr of Oxford, Lee Jackson of Xenia, OH and Kay Doak of Greene. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Matson's name may be directed to the Cortlandville Fire Department, 999 NYS Route 13, Cortland, NY 13045.
