He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth A. Thornton and Vivian Soule Thornton; and his brother Kenneth Thornton, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Louise Thomas Thornton; his daughters, Theresa L. McCauslin, Sr. (Michael) of Homer and Heather M. Hill (Chad) of Homer; his grandchildren, Brandon, Michael McCauslin, Jr., Lorelei and Maggie Hill; and his siblings, Dan Thornton (Rachel) of Marathon, Brenda Ketcham (Mark) of East Homer, Shirley Dietrich of DeRuyter and Patricia Parker of Cortland. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
