She was predeceased by: her parents, Clair Wood and Vera Wood; her husband Charles Kniffen; her brother Dale Wood; and her grandson Austin Fairbanks.
She is survived by: her daughters, Andria Smith, Cindy Casterline and Misty Fairbanks (Scott); her grandchildren, Shawna Elliott (Jason), Tianna Umstead (Donald), Kaleb Fairbanks and Brandon Fairbanks (Taylor); her sister Nadyne Harris (Jaffrey); and her sisters-in-law, Lois Stevens and Donna Sargent. She is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren.
As a lover of animals, those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Alice's name are asked to consider the Cortland County SPCA.
