“Dave was a friend of mine in Greenville, SC, when we worked at a bookstore there - neither of us fit there very well, apart from the obvious literary connection. We stayed in touch a bit - I never knew the outcome of his religious studies, but I have read his writing; in fact, just came across one of his manuscripts this evening, and thought to try to find him again . . .
