She was predeceased by: her parents, Loretta Whalen Zimmerman and Clifford Zimmerman. She is survived by: her husband Glen Nelson; her son Christopher (Allison); her grandchildren, Aubrey and Leo; her siblings, Betty Brook, Sandra Whitley and Clifford Zimmerman (Kippy); her niece Debbie Brooks-Snyder (Jannine Wood); and her nephew Michael Brooks.

Visitation was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home Inc. (38 Main St, Highland, NY 12528). A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 4:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, January 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Peter's Cemetery (171 Salt Point Turnpike, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601).

A founding member of the I Love Lloyd Foundation, Veronica served as treasurer.
