He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick Joseph Russo and Marie D'Agostino Russo; and his wife Patricia. He is survived by: his family, Patrick, Mayra Russo, Mimi, Paul Ronan, Joe and Marie Russo; his grandchildren, Joey, Leann, Michael, Sara, Chetta, Madeline, Natalie and Lizzie; and his great grandchild Alessandra.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home (38 Main St, Highland, NY 12528). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church (55 Main St, Highland, NY 12528).

It was one of the proudest moments of his life when the Prime Minister of Jamaica awarded him the Badge of Honor for Meritorious Service at a ceremony in Kingston, Jamaica, "For sterling contribution to Jamaica through the employment of thousands of Jamaicans in the Farm Work Program in the United States of America "This is the highest honor that a non-citizen of the Commonwealth can receive.
