She was predeceased by: her parents, Maude Lewis and George O'Dell; her husband Nelson Bates; her daughter Lyla Bates; her siblings, George O'Dell and Mary Church; and her great grandchild Suzette Ginther.
She is survived by: her sons, Nelson T. Bates (Sally) of Highland Falls and Joel A. Bates (Nancy) of Highland Falls; her grandchildren, John A. Bates (Dana), Joel C. Bates (Lisa), Sandra Nolker and Christopher Drew; and her great grandchildren, John Bates, Jr., Rebecca Cicione, Brandan Bates, Christopher Bates, Andrew Bates, Jessica O'Connell, Samantha Bates, Amy Nolker and Evan Drew. She is also survived by eighteen great-great-grandchildren.
