It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Ellen Smith of Herkimer, New York, who passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 46, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid Mary Ellen farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Mary Ellen is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her father David J. Lum. She is survived by: her mother Penelope M. Chase Lum; her husband Daniel Smith; her children, Jason Stevens, Kayla Stevens, Amber Stevens and Tracy Smith; and her siblings, David Lum, Jr., Jeannie Lum and Kelly Cadieux. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home (40 W James St, Richfield Springs, NY 13439). A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
