He was predeceased by: his parents, Norton Helmer and Marjory Helmer (Christman); and his siblings, Eugene, Leon, Iren Euron, Marion Richard, Pearl Small and Leverne Helmer.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lee; his stepchildren, Edward Helmer of Little Falls, Steven Helmer, Cheryl Crossett (Scott), Betsy Janicki of Whitesboro, Brian Helmer of Wichita, KS, Bradley Helmer of Syracuse, Darin Lynch (Crystal) of Bridgewater, Jason Lynch (Melissa Sperry) of Frankfort and Shayla Gifford (Joshua) of Sauquoit; his brothers, Alton Helmer (Madeline) of Dunkirk, Stuart Helmer (Deborah) of Tarboro, NC, Bert Helmer (Mary Ellen) and Herkimer; and his sister-in-law Linda Helmer of Norway. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephew and cousins.
