He was predeceased by: his parents, Leslie Eckler and Bernice Cotton Eckler; his wife Ethel Mae Hoke; his brother Harold Eckler; his half-brother Harry Smith; his sister Roberta Galusha; and his stepsister Shirley Jasewicz.
He is survived by: his daughters, Kaye (David Smith) and Jean (Thomas Fenton); and his grandchildren, Carol Macrina (Anthony) of Mohawk, Donald Smith (Lori) of Dallesport, WA, David Smith (Julia) of Bedford, VA, Aaron Smith (Emilee Konchar) of Milford, Jay Fenton (Donna) of Middletown, DE and Stephen Fenton (Sarah) of Mebane, NC. He is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and many cousins.
