With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Melvin in Hempstead, New York, born in Statesboro, Georgia, who passed away on November 7, 2020 at the age of 79. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Mary Melvin to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sherman Melvin, Sr. and Ellen Jones Melvin; and her siblings, Pauline Melvin, Emma Jean Armstrong, Samuel Jones, Freddie Melvin and Andrew Melvin (AJ).
She is survived by: her daughters, Cheryl Smith (H. B.) and Sheila Gardner (Terry); her siblings, Esther Melvin, Sherman, Frankie Melvin of Statesboro, Georgia, Ronnie Melvin and Tommy Melvin (Faye) of Claxton, Georgia; and her sisters-in-law, Juanita Melvin and Betty Jones. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and special friends.
A private memorial service will be held for the family only at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church on Mud Road in Stilson, Georgia. *As a recommendation by the CDC due to COVID-19, we are requiring that a mask be worn if you plan to attend the memorial service.
