Cleo Chambers, 57, passed away on November 30, 2023, in Hempstead, NY. She was born on December 18, 1964, in Hempstead, NY, to the late Lucy Lee Chambers and Irving Chambers Sr.
Cleo, also known as Cleotha Hayes Chambers, was a loving, caring, and kind person with a heart of gold. Her smile would light up any room, making everyone feel like family. She had a strong personality and was not one to cross, but her love and warmth were unmatched.
She attended Roosevelt High School and later pursued a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Cleo dedicated herself to caring for others, always putting their needs before her own.
Cleo is survived by her children, Treasure Hayes and Cleasia Chambers, both of Hempstead, NY, and her daughter-in-law, Jay Sherrill of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her sisters: Patricia Chambers-Pearl, Sherry Chambers, Trina Chambers, Patsy Chambers (Thomas), Betty Chambers, Diane Birch, and Voncilla Chambers-Kyles; sister-in-laws: Mekeba Chambers, Denise Drones, Kaberra Smith, Mecca Thomas, and Tonia Pearl; brothers: Jimmy Chambers, Robert Chambers, Iriving Chambers Jr., Elijah Chambers, and Joshua Chambers; and brother-in-law, Lamar Pearl. Cleo leaves behind grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jim Hayes, granddaughter, Jaielle Journei Chylin Hayes, her mother, Lucy Lee Chambers, father, Irving Chambers Sr., and close friend, Stacey Goins.
