She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred C. Thomas and June Thomas (VanSlyke); and her siblings, Blaine E. Thomas, Audrey Thomas, Shirley Hoover and Enid Cady.

She is survived by: her husband Charles A. Chopay.

“Mrs.Chopay was my girl scout leader in Cherokee County in the Gaffney/ Blacksburg area. I remember going to camp in the summer time and it was the most fun. My sisters and I always had a great time and Mrs.Chopay especially made it memorable for black kids like myself during the late sixties and early seventies. She treated everyone nice and respectful.Thank you from the bottom of my heart Mrs.Chopay and may you rest in the bosom of our Lord. Debra E. Gill”
