He was predeceased by: his wife Bernice Benedict DeFonce; and his brother Michael DeFonce. He is survived by: his daughters, Sabrina Bengel (Steve) of New Bern, NC and Debbie Mazza (John) of Harrison; his close friend Betty Baaden; his grandchildren, Buddy Bengel, Michael Mazza, Becky Bengel Estry (Jonathan), Benji Mazza (Lynnette Vega) and Sarah Mazza; his great grandchildren, Emily, Eric and Everleigh Estry; and his siblings, Sal DeFonce Jr. and Rose Shaver.
