He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecile Metzler and Bob Metzler; his grandson Jason Dempsey; and his brothers, Wayne (Caroline Metzler) and Daryl "Buz" (Dawn Metzler).
He is survived by: his wife Janet E. Washburn; his sister Rhonda Bossard (Rick) of Cortland; and his children, Robert Metzler (Gail) of Harford, Kim Coish (David) of Lisle, Elizabeth Hilsinger of Lansing and Denver Metzler, Jr. (Tammy) of Cortland. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
