He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Fred Willis Cole and Gladys Ruth Cole (Flack); his wife Margot T. Reiss of Syracuse; his grandchildren, Cole Ziskind, Jason Ziskind, Shelby Woodard, Elena Ziskind, Alyssa Ziskind and Delbert Woodard IV; and his siblings, Patricia Shortslef (Leigh) of Sterling, David Cole (Kim) of Hannibal, Linda Cole of Oswego and Diane Cole of Oswego. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
