He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Smith and Doris Smith. He is survived by: his wife Dolores "Dee" Smith; his children, Sara Mae Smith, Jason Southwick (Heather) and Johnathon Southwick; his grandchildren, Douglas Gay, Jocelyn Southwick and Aletta Southwick; his sister Dorrie Myers; his godson Austin Gamson; his sisters-in-law, Lauretta Gay, Janet Mateer and Joanie Van Wormer (Alan); his nieces, Phyllis, Karen, Brianna, Desirea, Marcella and Nichole; his nephew Frank Gay (Tasha); and his brother-in-law Bill Myers.
