He was predeceased by: his parents, Clair Fries and Fannie Fries of Hammondsport, NY.; his wife Linda Fries; his son Joe'Onion'Fries; and his siblings, Ronald Fries, Judy Lewis, Shirley Frize, Nancy Watson and Sally Strzepek.
He is survived by: his sister Bonnie Schmidl (Ronnie) of Penn Yan; his children, William Fries Sr. (Barbara) of Hammondsport, Brad Fries (Anthony Mendiola) of San Jose, CA, Randy Fries (Debbie) of Kendall and Molly Leon (Sebastian) of Tucson, AZ; his grandchildren, William Fries Jr., Derek Baroody (Rose Otano), Kalyn Veley (Stephen), Lindsey Fries and Tyler Baroody (Matt Kowalski); and his great grandchildren, Stephen, Laykin, Haligyn, Jayden and Kayden (Jeannie Stanton) of Richmond, VA..
