He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Shirley A. Smardz; his sons, Tommy Jr. Smardz (Traci) and Kevin Smardz; his parents, Matthew Smardz and Sophia; his siblings, Rita Hawkins (Paul) and Terry Kalman (late Bob); and his grandchildren, Matthew, Emilee, Eric and Joseph. He was also cherished by many extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bishop Tom's name to Southtowns Christian Center where he was the founding Pastor and Bishop of the church.
