He was predeceased by: his parents, Stuart Nichols and Sara Nichols. He is survived by: his wife Joan Nichols; his children, Sara Eisenstein (Neal), Susan Hoellig, James, Timothy (Julie) and Douglas Nichols Jr.; his grandchildren, Justin, Nicholas, Austin, Tyler, Collin, Kevin, Alexandra and Carter; and his brother Stuart Nichols (Ann). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doug's memory may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
