He was predeceased by: his parent Calvin W. Thayer; and his siblings, Mildred Albert, Alpha Thayer, Merton Thayer and Barbara DeVoe.

He is survived by: his parent Rena Thayer; his wife Doris Thayer; his children, Gail Carpenter (Russell) and Steve Thayer (Beth); and his grandsons, Joseph and Sam. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Shenendehowa United Methodist Church, 971 Route 146, Clifton Park, NY 12065 or the Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
