Ana Schlager wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Deborah, Tammy and entire Masten Family, I'm so sad and sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was the kindest teacher I had and will always remember him. I first met him in 1974 when I was in 4th grade, and then had him in 5th grade at Columbus School, while he was also Interim Principal. Mr. Masten is one of those angels God places on earth; I know he taught, encouraged, and cared for so many of us and anytime I hear Opera, I think of him. Warmest wishes to you & Family, Ana C Schlager”
