He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson Jr. VanPatten and Elizabeth VanPatten (Ivers) of Altamont, NY; his brother Jeffrey D. VanPatten of Guilderland; and his brother-in-law Lee N. Sornberger of Altamont, NY.. He is survived by: his wife Tara VanPatten; his sons, Jack T. and Spencer S. VanPatten; his siblings, Linda Sornberger of Altamont, Jan VanPatten (Gail) of Duanesburg, Chris VanPatten (Carlene) of Princetown and Lisa Clark (Patrick) of Delanson; his sister-in-law Jill VanPatten of Guilderland; his aunt Hannah Ivers of Jamestown, NC; his parents-in-law, Jude Wilcox (Harold Oppelt) of Rotterdam, NY and Daniel Taylor of Rotterdam; and his brother-in-law Shane Taylor of Schenectady, NY.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home (5216 Western Ave, Guilderland, NY 12084).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made in Jay's honor to the Regional Food Bank or an organization supporting United States Veterans.
