He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Lois Essler Merrick; his children, Ron Merrick (Marsha) of Geneseo and Lenis Adamson (Greg) of Groveland; his grandchildren, James Merrick (Rachel) of Geneseo, Andrea Frisch of Groveland, Amanda Schultz (Doug) of Piffard, Joshua (Julie) and Laura Adamson of Groveland; his great grandchildren, Kayla Schultz, Haley, Wyatt Adamson, Charlie and Lucy Merrick; his brother William Merrick of Groveland; and his parents, James W. Merrick and Anna Zuris Merrick. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Geneseo United Methodist Church, 4520 Genesee St. (Rte. 63), Geneseo, NY 14454.
