He is survived by: his wife Theresa Spencer; his children, Karen Spencer of Groton, Christine Cavanagh of Oneida and James Spencer of Lansing; his grandchildren, Colleen Cavanagh (Justin Cunningham), Sara Spencer (Nick Bell) and Caleb Spencer; his stepgrandchildren, Brian Cavanagh, Mary Kate Rolf (Jim), Susan O'Rielly (Will), Karen McCarthy (Sean) and Andrew Cavanagh (Bryan Pendleton); his great grandchild Elliot James Bell; and his sister Laura Volpicelli. He is also survived by extended family and many friends.
