He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley Smith and Theodosia Myers Smith. He is survived by: his wife Norma; his sons, Gary Smith, Kevin Smith (Kimberley) and Ron Smith (Kelly); his grandchildren, Kelly Crysler, Nicole Smith (Gregory Williams), Binny Smith, Carmen Sampson (Mick), G. Deven Smith (Holly), Johnathon Smith (Michelle), Zachary Smith (Kendra), Landri Smith and Tucker Smith; his great grandchildren, Isaac, Emily, Levi, Joshua Crysler, Amar, Ally Hathaway, Davena Hathaway, Elaina, Nevaeh Sampson and Rhett Smith; and his sister Lynnette Bustamante. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
