She was predeceased by: her parents, Marshall Francis Whelden Sr. and Bessie Stewart of Easton, NY; her brother Marshall Jr.; and her husband Frederick "Freddie" P. Schafer III. She is survived by: her children, Phillip Schafer (Kimberly), Cynthia Decker (Charles), Leith Schafer (Ann), David Schafer (Sherida), Mary Tillapaugh (Stuart), Frederick "Fred" P. Schafer IV, Sally Graziano (Mark) and Thor Schafer; her grandchildren, Shelton Schafer (Jessica), Bebbyn Alford (Zachary), Cullen Schafer (Bradleigh), Brandon Schafer (Ashley), Garrett Schafer (Ashley), Meghan Tillapaugh (Derek Herringshaw), Abigail Moore (Matthew), Hannah Coons (Leonard), Madlyn Schafer, Delaney Schafer, Rebbekka Graziano and Whelden Graziano; and her great grandchildren, Logan, Rowyn, Weston Schafer, Gates, Sullivan Alford, Elwood, Isla, Gordon Schafer, Claire, Harper, Luke Schafer, Isabella, Emma Schafer, Everett, Silas Moore and Roslyn Coons. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.

Guests attending Mary Lou's services at church are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines, including masks if unvaccinated and social distancing.
