He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy "Dolly" Martel; and his sister Phillis Hanley. He is survived by: his children, Donna Downing of Ridgewood, NJ, John Martel Jr. of Matamoras, PA, James Martel of Melbourne, FL and Carlton Vogt of Warwick, NY. He is also survived by 30 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren.
