She was predeceased by: her parents, William Homer and Irene Pearl Knight Nicholson; her husband Calvin Coolidge Avery; her grandmother Knight; her grandson Michael Tisdale; her cousin Dolly Nicholson Steele; and also Robert S. Avery.

She is survived by: her children, Ronald L. Avery (Earlene) of Binghamton, Glen E. Avery (Margery) of Houghton, Mary Anne Tisdale (William) and N. H.. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several nieces.
