He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Stoddard and Marlene Stoddard (Douglas); his sister Angela; and his stepfather Edwin R. Menelly. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Stoddard (DeKalb); his daughter Shelby Loomis (Nathan); his granddaughter Caylin Bush-Loomis; his siblings, William (Donna), Lawrence, Norman, Yvonne and Irene (Ted); his niece Jasmine Asa (Stephen); and his nephew Christopher.
