He is survived by: his wife Claudia R. Schmitz; his children, Rachel Alix, Jill Metz and Ricky Schmitz (Leanne); his grandchildren, Hailey, Ava, Emily, Cayden, Mya, Kendall, Kennedy, Chase and Thomas; and his sister Karen Diamond. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Donations can be made in Richard's honor to ASPCA or Hospice Buffalo.
