He was predeceased by: his father Merton Hewitt; and his siblings, Bernard, Donald Hewitt, Marian Mason, Gladys Reynolds and Helen Murray.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Hewitt; and his children, Gerald "Joe" Hewitt, Jr., Jeffrey D. Hewitt, Robyn M. (Daniel Estey) and Karen A. (Michael Frame). He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren.
