He was predeceased by : his parents, Ernest Dougherty and Catherine Dougherty (Corrigan). He is survived by : his wife Diane Dougherty (Kobylinski) of Glenville, NY; his children, Brian Dougherty (Nicole Nittinger) of Broadalbin, NY, William "Bill" E. Dougherty (Giovanna) of Telford, PA and Sharon Dougherty; his grandchildren, Nora, Anna, Samuel, Sarah Walters (Scott) and Nicholas Dougherty; his brother-in-law Kenneth Kobylinski (Mary) of Harborcreek, PA; his niece Abby Lang (A. J.) of Durham, NC; and his nephew Kyle Kobylinski (Kaci) of Erie, PA.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Bill's name may be made to the Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Ave Scotia, NY 12302.
