He was predeceased by: his parents, Jeremiah McCarthy and Laura McCarthy; his former wife Takeko Toriyama; his sister Patricia; and his brother-in-law George Jacobs.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy of Plattsburgh; his daughters, Reiko Toriyama McCarthy and Mayumi Toriyama of Japan; his stepchildren, Andrea Dufrain and Conor Dufrain (Melanie); his niece Marie Johnson; his great-niece Andrea; and his great-nephew Dan. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
