He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy E. (Deinert); his son-in-law Edward Eisenlord; his sister Marie Phillips (late Jerome); and his father Ferdinand. He is survived by: his children, John Jr. (Angela), Michele Eisenlord Sandler (Eric), Peggy Mayer (Glenn) and Nicole Burger (Jason); his close friend Elizabeth Elmer (Betty); his friend Paul Converso; his uncle Edward; and also, Ferdinand (late Mary) and Audrey Melber (late Joseph). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was also designated a "James E. West Fellow" in 1999 for his contributions to the Boy Scouts and was a charter member of the "On My Honor Society" in 2009.
