He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gaschel and Nellie Gaschel (Grater); his siblings, Phyllis Broast, Claire Griffin, Richard "Yubby" and Joseph Gaschel; and his daughter-in-law Donna Gaschel (Rooney).
He is survived by: his wife Ellen (Wright); his children, Rebecca Clark (Eric) of Hillsdale and Jason of Hobe Sound, FL; his granddaughter Lindsey Clark of Hillsdale; and his siblings, Nancy Gardner of Massachusetts and John Gaschel of Livingston. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
