He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Bates and Florence Bates (Bratt). He is survived by: his girlfriend Linda; his sons, Robert Bates (Remlin) and Edward Bates Jr.; and his brother Jimmy Bates. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
