He was predeceased by: his parents, Delsia and Carl; his sisters, Betty, Mary, Delsia Emma, Ida, Patty, Ella and Wanda; and his grandson Jackson Whitehurst.
He is survived by: his children, Carla Whitehurst, Carl Simmons (Lynn) and Thomas Simmons (Melinda); his stepson Ben Gansowski; his grandchildren, Taylor Marks (Dennis), Garret Simmons (Courtney), Connor Simmons, Brooke Simmons and Adison Whitehurst; and his siblings, Dorothy, Kim, Punchy and Ed.
