He was predeceased by: his parents, Patrick O'Connor and Anna O'Connor (Byrne); his wife Ann; and his sisters, Lois Wooden, Alice Henry and Betty Nolan.

He is survived by: his children, Tricia DePillo (Steve) of Seneca Falls, NY, Tim (Michelle) of Brighton, NY and Bob (Lisa) of Pittsford, NY; his stepchildren, Mary Hryzak (Michael) of Jacksonville, FL, Kitty Middlebrook (Robert) of Lady Lake, FL, Patrick McGuane (Kim) of Chester Springs, PA and Mike McGuane (Rita) of Westchester, PA; and his grandchildren, Sarah, Kathleen, Julia, Jeremiah, Noah, Colin, Chelsea, Margaret, Michael, Jordan and Quinn.
